Tinting your car windows is a process of making your vehicle windows darker. This does a few things – provides additional privacy for you and your passengers and provides additional shade against the harsh light. Think of tinting your windows as sunglasses for your vehicle.

Tinting your car windows can be a great addition, especially during those hot summer days. Many people tint their windows due to the many benefits it provides. However, it’s essential to know the regulations put in place by state officials before making your next informed investment and tinting your car windows.

States Laws on Tinting

State laws regulate the level of darkness permitted for auto glass tinting. This is to ensure the safety of all those on the road. Regulations vary from state to state, so it’s essential to ensure your car abides by the rules.

Before determining how much to tint your windows, you should check your state’s department of motor vehicles to read about the regulations within your state. Most auto shops should know the local regulations, but it doesn’t hurt to know the details beforehand. All states have restrictions on tinting applied to both passenger windows and the front windshield. Once you determine the levels allowed, you can choose the appropriate window tint film for your car.

Here are the window tinting laws in Missouri and Kansas.

Missouri:

Tint darkness for sedans:

  • Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line.
  • Front Side Windows: Must allow more than 35% of light in.
  • Back Side Windows: Any darkness can be used.
  • Rear Window: Any darkness can be used.

Tint darkness for SUVs and vans:

  • Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line.
  • Front Side Windows: Must allow more than 35% of light in.
  • Back Side Windows: Any darkness can be used.
  • Rear Window: Any darkness can be used.

Benefits of Tinting Your Car Windows

You use your car every day and want to make sure it is the perfect ride for you. With that being said, you should look into tinting your car windows. Some cars come with the windows already tinted, but if yours didn’t, it’s well worth the investment. People have this done for a variety of reasons, some of which include:

  • Helps Protect Your Car’s Interior: The sun can cause lots of damage to a car’s internal and external features. Over time, the constant sun exposure can lead to upholstery fading or damaged leather. You can extend the life of your car’s interior by tinting your windows by providing a shade.
  • Reduces Glare: Do you have a problem when driving down the road and the glare off of another car or an object hits your eyes? If you can’t see the road well, this can be a safety issue. Tinting your windows will minimize the problem of glare shining in your car. For those who see “halo lights” while driving at night, the extra tint in the car windows can help you see better.
  • Helps Keep Your Car Cool: In the hot summers, it can be challenging to keep your car cool while you’re not in it. With the addition of a window tint, you will quickly notice a big difference in the temperature inside your car on those hot days.
  • Offers More Privacy: People like their privacy, especially when driving in a highly-populated area. Tinting your windows creates more privacy, giving you a safer environment. Also, if you leave your car in a parking lot and have something inside, tint makes it more difficult for thieves to look directly into your vehicle.

Excellent experience! Called late on Friday of a holiday weekend and got the last appt of the day. Had an unusual glass repair. The manager did an excellent job explaining the repair process along the way. They got it done and had me on my way promptly.

I just wanted this company to know that your clever advertising at a T-Bones game 20 years ago is the only reason I even thought of you when I got a chip in my windshield. It forever was etched in my brain so whoever thought of that, hopefully you’re a millionaire now. Genius. Also, you did great work on my chip!

Very easy to work with. Lowest price by far to replace my windshield since I was paying on my own. 45 mins in and out. No problems since. Wiped down and cleaned the car. Nice waiting room. Highly recommend.

Wow, what a great experience! Having driven in the mountains of Colorado, to Minnesota and to Florida multiple times, wouldn’t you know I get hit with what seemed liked a pretty big rock 10 miles from my home in Kansas while driving south on I-435 S. on June 9th. After checking several sites I decided on Kryger. I got in on the morning of June 10th and much to my surprise, everything was done by the time I finished a leisurely breakfast and even more surprisingly the cost was $60 less than the original estimate. Also it was $200 less than the major nationwide competitor. I hope you don’t need a new windshield, but if you do check out Kryger.

Online quote portal is a waste of time. Despite completing the intake form completely (confirmed by next day call back from your office), the estimate for a windshield replacement for an 11-year old Mazda CX-5 went from $865 to $1,150. If your online portal is going to miss the mark by 35%, you might want to reconsider its value within your current business model. I'd be a bit more concerned with your long-term business objectives vs. short-term margins, as one would have to imagine you'll be insolvent within the next 5-years without additional market share. Cheers to overpriced products and services!

It isn’t just about how the glass looks, though that’s important. It isn’t only about keeping bugs out, though that matters.
